The Christian Education committee is always striving to provide opportunities for our youth to participate in classes and activities that provide important stepping stones along their spiritual path. We want to thank Cathy Hill for many, many hours of service to our older youth. Cathy is stepping down from her role as youth leader. We are sad to see her leave this area of service because she related so well to the kids. Her lock-ins were a big hit!
You can still join one of our Adult Bible studies. On Monday evening at 6:30is the class Jesus in the Gospels and on Sunday mornings at 9:30 is the Disciple I class. We have extra books so come and see how much fun it is to read your Bible and fellowship with your church family
Needed: Sunday School teachers and Children’s Church workers.
If you are willing to help in these areas please see Reinita Thacker.
Preschool Class (3 years old – Kindergarten) will be using the Presbyterian curriculum Wee Believe, God’s Word for God’s People. This curriculum builds foundations to help young children learn about God’s love for them. The Bible stories are adapted from scripture and told in an age-appropriate manner. Activities that reinforce the stories are used throughout the quarter and include: music, arts and crafts, games, puzzles, and acting out the stories. The children will meet God’s people from Abraham and Sarah to Jacob and his family learning that God is always with us, families come in all shapes and sizes and love is the most important part of being a family.
Younger Elementary Class (1st – 5th grades) will be using the Presbyterian curriculum Wee Believe, God’s Word for God’s People. This curriculum is designed to have activities and experiences that engage multiple intelligences because people receive and process information in many different ways. The children will learn about some key people in the Old Testament. They will be looking at what actually happened in these stories and what these stories mean for us today. Included will be; Adam and Eve, Jacob and Esau, Miriam and Moses, Samuel and Eli, David and Abigail, Jonah and God, and Esther and Mordecai.
Junior and Senior High Class (6th-12th grades) will be doing our puppet ministry, “Puppets for Jesus”. Puppet ministry is a tool for evangelism that is powerful and effective. It is a wonderful hands-on-ministry that allows our youth to share the Gospel in a non-threatening way. It also provides our youth with the opportunity to gain self confidence, learn and practice evangelism and at the same time gain a closer relationship with God.
Adult Class is studying Disciple I, Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study. This is an exciting study that will cover the Bible from creation to the New Jerusalem. This class will include daily reading followed by a Sunday morning video and class discussion. Please consider this opportunity to study the Bible in a small group. Please sign up on the bulletin board so we can order books.
Monday Adult Bible Study is studying Jesus in the Gospels. This study looks at Jesus in different settings, his relationship to the Jewish religion he inherited and also at what each Gospel writer wanted to highlight about Jesus. This class is on Monday evening at 6:30 starting on September 19th. Please sign up on the bulletin board so we can order books.
